Thanks for the detailed guidance just I'm not able to enter Windows 10 Repair Environment. I've been trying to get it over and over once more but haven't been able to. Right after the Asus logo disappears, I get a GNU Grub menu (I'm dual booting Windows x and Ubuntu). I select Windows 10, then the Windows logo appears. If I striking the power button right away, information technology goes off and does non seem to perform a hard shut downwards. But if I expect a second a loading icon appears, and if I press and hold the power push it appears to do a hard shut down later on ~5 seconds (which is what I'grand trying to do). The trouble is the second time I try to practise this, the BSOD appears before the hard shutdown starts. I can still practice a hard shutdown, but no thing how many times I do this it still won't enter in the Repair Environment. Is there any other way I can access my restore points?

Yes if you lot are dual booting you might accept difficulty getting into the WinRE, yous will demand to kick from the Windows x Installation Media to get into the WinRE

If you do not accept Windows 10 Installation Media Click Hither  to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Some other PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 4GB) using that tool or create the ISO file which you tin can subsequently burn to DVD

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you but created (change Kick Order in your BIOS)

Do not install Windows, instead on the starting time or second screen, click 'Repair this PC', the repair will probably fail, so you will get the opportunity to get into the Windows Recovery Environment by clicking 'Advanced Options' . . .

I downloaded a Windows 10 ISO to a USB and booted from it. When I select Startup Repair it diagnoses the PC and then fails to repair information technology (as yous suggested it would). If I click on "Advanced Options" I only get two: Troubleshoot and Turn off your PC. Under the Troubleshoot menu I have six options:

System Restore - tells me I "must specify which Windows installation to restore" and doesn't let me do annihilation else. Also tells me to "Restart this figurer, select and performance arrangement, and then select System Restore"

System Image Recovery - tells me it cannot find a system prototype on my estimator

Startup Repair - fails to set the problem, as stated above

Control Prompt - I tried inbound "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal"considering I saw it on another website just it didn't recognize the command. It tells me "The kick configuration data shop could non be opened. The requested system device cannot be constitute." Don't know what else to exercise here.

UEFI Firmware Settings - this didn't seem relevant

Get back to previous version - tells me that it "ran into a problem and won't be able to accept yous back to the previous version"

Can you tell me where to get from here? I actually capeesh the help!

The installation to add together to the boot list is Due east:\Windows

At some phase your system must have performed a big upgrade and the Windows.old folder was created and for some unknown reason information technology is beingness seen as a windows installation, which it is not. Information technology contains the files required to perform a coil back of your OS . . .

If you lot can and so successfully boot your arrangement, delete the Windows.old folder  using Deejay Cleanup. To delete this folder using Disk Cleanup, let information technology practice its initial scan, then in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup Arrangement Files', permit information technology scan again, select everything and delete all . . .
